I want to know what has changed  Homicide : Life on the Street from your 'favourite show of all time' to 'probably all time favourite TV series'
I think I hate being indecisive.

Good question!  It's certainly not because of anything I've seen since.

When I was writing the newer post I almost didn't put the "probably", but I thought I can't definitively call anything my absolute favourite TV series.  And then I starting thinking about other contenders like The Water Margin.  And Bagpuss....

Grave of the Fireflies. Wow. Can't believe it took me so long to see this film and it's brilliant but utterly horrible at the same time.

Saw Pain & Gain yesterday. Amusing movie, I thought it was pretty good. But don't expect a serious movie, was still directed by Michael Bay

I heard Mark Kermode reviewing it last week - I knew he wouldn't like it, but he absolutely HATED it.  Made me curious to see it, although I basically can't stand Michael Bay films.

I watched Pain & Gain the other night. The first of it is pretty entertaining but I felt it dragged on a bit too much an got a bit too samey for me.

Pretty mad to think that most of what goes on (in some ways) is a true story though!

Moving on from film; has anyone been watching Under the Dome, based on the Stephen King book? My housemate and I have been d/ling it and we're at the end of the first series. It's bloody ace!!

Apparently, it's different from the book too, with King's seal of approval (which, for most TV/Film adaptions, is generally a death sentence). So far So good though!

I had a night in dog sitting last night whilst my sister was in hospital so I watched a few films to pass the time:

Black Sheep
This is an extremely tongue in cheek dark comedy, you couldn't really call it a horror film, about a flock of infected sheep on a New Zealand farm that go on the warpath. It very much reminded me of Brain Dead with a bit of Shaun Of The Dead or An American Werewolf In London thrown in. It's 1 of those films that doesn't really serve a purpose, it's just something to laugh at for 90minutes :D It's immensely stupid and cheesy but it kept me amused when I wasn't in a mood for anything too serious.

I did also have Requiem For A Dream to watch as well but thought it might be a bit deep for the mood I was in.

Switchblade Romance/High Tension/Haute tension
This starts out as kind of a home invasion type of film but then moves out of it about halfway through into a story of 2 girls who are trying to survive the night after being taken hostage by a killer who murders the family of 1 of the girls and then takes the other hostage, leaving her friend to try to rescue her. It's a fair bit gorier than I was expecting, not an issue but worth mentioning, and it seems to trade substance for tension, which it seems to do well.

Were you bothered by the - without giving too much away - twist ending?  I know quite a lot of people who got really annoyed about it, but I think you just have to accept it, it didn't spoil my enjoyment at all.  It's a really good film, shame Alexandre Aja seems to have been going steadily downhill with the films he's directed subsequently.

Nope, it didn't spoil my enjoyment or opinion of the film at all to be honest!

I'm not familiar with the Writer/Director, so can't say either way about his other work

After Haute Tension, he went from France to the USA and made The Hills Have Eyes (a not-bad remake), Mirrors (remake of a much better Korean film, but with unintentional comedy value courtesy of Kiefer Sutherland in full-on Jack Bauer mode) and..... Piranha 3D.  :|

Things can only get better.

Ah, I've sactually seen all of those.

I think I'm the only person around that doesn't hate Piranha 3d

This Is The End. Loved it, so funny and probably the best film I've seen in a while actually.

Just watched the last ever episode of Breaking Bad. Classics, classic stuff! I can't believe it was all a dream. What a twist!
