Just watched Flightplan on BBC1. Boring!
and predictable! Panic Room is on in the next few days. Very similar feel. Also fairly boring and predictable.
Yes, I'm not convinced Jodie Foster, excellent actress though she is, is the right person to star in that type of film. You need to sympathise with the central character, but (in those movies) she comes across as cold, brittle and neurotic and it's very hard to like her.
BTW, does anyone else think that Christian Bale is the new Sean Connery i.e. plays the same part in every movie. I love the guy, but he's exactly the same as The Dark Knight etc.
I've seen a lot of his films and I do think he
can be a very good actor, but recently (The Dark Night, Terminator Salvation, Public Enemies) he's been turning in very similar performances where all he does is look extremely serious and growl/shout in a very deep voice (my brother calls it "barking" ). It would be nice to see him in something lighter, but he seems to have zero sense of humour so I'm not sure he could do it.
I don't know about the new Sean Connery, he lacks Connery's likeability. Maybe he's more in danger of becoming the new "Shouty Al" Pacino. :P
Watched 'Anvil: The Story of Anvil' yesterday, though it was absolutely brilliant :D
I keep going on about it, but when they showed the film at the London Film Festival last year, Anvil came on afterwards and played a mini set right there on the Odeon stage. The atmosphere was amazing. I think everyone in the audience that night, whatever their age or musical tastes, fell in love with the band.
