watched the day of the jackal, was on the other night on RTE. Excellent (read the book too, though not for ages).
The original or the re-make?

Come on, nobody thinks the remake is excellent.

harry potter and the half-blood prince.

excellent adaptation, brilliant direction and, overall, my favourite in the HP series...
does anyone agree?

Today I saw Pelham 123, it wasn't too bad, it suffered from being ten minutes too long, and the climax part was just a little too drawn out IMO for what it should have been.

Not a bad storyline, a few flaws in principle (driving an item from A - B instead of using a helicopter for example means there are more opportunities for crazy action shots), they even remind you of this in the film.

Classic ending though, John Travolta did quite a good job at playing a bit of a weird character that adds a bit more feeling to the last scene.

If you liked that other subway film, this one is a fair watch

Watched Mr Brooks earlier, pretty good! Reminds me of another film but cant quite figure out which. Not quite American Psycho.

they missed half the book , actually... but - differently from the previous 2 movies - they managed to fit everything so perfectly that i hadn't really the impression that something was missing. of course i knew it, but the movie worked great anyway!

I thought Pelham 123 was excellent. Great acting all round and really well shot. The money transfer made lots of sense i though, it worked in the context of the movie.

Oh and Harry Potter was probably the worst film I've been to all year. Nothing happened in the film. Nothing! The HBP revelation at the end had no impact, in the book Harry thought it was his dad and obsessed over who the book belonged to. The reveal at the end made no sense in terms of the film.

Also they cut out the Gaunts. That's going to be fun to explain n the next book.

Saw V for Vendetta the oter night for the first time.  Good film, although you may as well read 1984 as it's much better.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

v for vendetta is a great film.  Clearly not as good as the book but i am not so anal that i cant see they did a very good job of it - even with major bits missing or changed

it is very 1984 in feel but thats no bad thing

+1 I thought it was great, just got back from seeing it :) I really liked the intro sequence for some reason.
