oh it's good but it's not an entirely serious show. jerry o'connell's in it.

Watched game of thrones too, not sure if i like it or not. I mean I do, but it's quite dark, and suffers from a lot of HBO things in that you get the feeling they're swearing etc. just because they can.

Hobo With A Shotgun - as it says on the tin really! Based off a Grindhouse trailer apparently, so it's one of those awesome cheesy b-movies! It was actually a lot more enjoyable/less cheesy than some "serious" action films I've seen, very entertaining :D

I gave up half way through the first book because I just found it unpleasant.

I enjoyed the first episode of Game of Thrones. Thought everything was done wonderfully bar perhaps those across the narrow sea being a bit two dimensional at this point. Hopefully they get fleshed out a bit.

In saying that, the "villains" - it gets much more complicated than that - did get the best line, in the appallingly callous "I would let his whole tribe fuck you, all forty-thousand men - and their horses too if that's what it took."

Yeah, I'm not convinced thus far. Kind of like it's being gritty for the sake of it. Which I'm not much a fan of. I mean I watch (or read) stuff like this to escape from the real world, not to be reminded of it.

EDIT: I mean I'm not going to stop yet. I'll give it a few more episodes, at least. Probably just end up watching it but complaining at the same time

EDIT #2: Also makes me wonder the point in making "realistic fantasy"... "Those monsters aren't realistic enough!"

The best film for me is 'The Shawshank Redemption', though others I'd rate highly would be:

Forrest Gump
Phone Booth
Gladiator
Love Actually
Benjamin Button
Bourne Trilogy

Mad Detective - a mentally ill ex-cop tries to solve a series of robbery-murders in Hong Kong.  Strange, violent, very well acted and "interesting", but like many Johnnie To films I'm not sure if I actually enjoyed it.  :?
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Nativity! - Another low budget British rom-com with some amusing bits but it's mostly heart-warming stuff. There is a lot of kids singing, so it does what it says on the tin. Martin Freeman is competent in the lead role but the whole film is as formulaic as expected.

Tron Legacy - Amazing visuals, I can't emphasise that enough... it's incredibly beautiful! But the plot, acting and dialogue are just terrible. However anyone looking for a stylish action film should see this. I also enjoyed Michael Sheen's pantomime performance - though I suspect it's unintentionally funny (or maybe he was deliberately taking the p**s !?).

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - It got terrible reviews but I though it wasn't too bad, better than Prince Caspian. It still has the usual 'moral' stuff from Jesus Aslan and the last act is poor. The CG is good and the pace is correct, in places it was reminiscent of the classic Sinbad films.

Finally getting round to watching The Pacific. Just watched the second episode. Not sure if it's as good as the hype. After this I shall be watching Band of Brothers.
I think I hate being indecisive.
