Relic guitars are like stone-washed denim jeans to me. They feel nicer than stiff and scratchy dark blue ones ;)
That's really the best way I've ever heard it put... Nice.
Actually, yeah, that works for me as well...
I have no problem with people wearing them... but I wouldn't be seen dead in them myself :D (or any denim for that matter )
I can't explain why I don't lust after the relics anymore - I did a year or so back, but I've played a few now, and that's kinda settled me into "not that interested at that price".
I'm with gwem though - if the "right one" fell in my hands and was a great player/etc...
But the thing is, all of these relic jobbies are
well above my price range - so it would have to be truly stunning for me to put my hand in my pocket. The nearest to my price range that I've seen/touched were the roadworns, and as far as I was concerned, they just weren't £200 better (playability and general mojo, looks, etc) than the Fender Japan thing I chose instead...
And Philly, I must be lucky - I don't give too much of a monkeys about chips and dings. The first one is "Oh!?", I'll grant you - but that's usually in the first day or so
(I can be a bit of an "Yngwie" over guitar handling when it comes to getting the axes out to play/show them off...)
It's still a stunning looking example, though :D
