Here's the unedited performance that the BBC cut short (can't think why) last week:

I've been amusing myself by reading some of the posts on the Joe Mcwhatever forum - http://www.joemcelderry.com/index.php/board,1.0.html.

The following quote 'Rage Against the Machine and the couple who started the campaign will be the ones who killed xmas.' taken from this thread http://www.joemcelderry.com/index.php/topic,1180.0.html is my favourite so far.

I find fanboys and girls and whatever they're supporting baffling.

The admin on there looks like they could be pushed into a breakdown given some more goading.

I wouldnt have mind if it was Justin.. Beyonce.. not even JEDWARD. But this? Gosh.

What RATM fans don't see is, The Climb may not be christmassy, but people can actually relate to it in a personal way.

It's amazing to think that there are people who think Beyonce, Rihanna, Justin, Leona etc are the absolute pinnacle of recorded music.  And Killing In The Name is "the worst song in musical history".

Has it never crossed their minds that there's something just a little "unfair" about the X Factor automatically getting the Christmas No.1 every year, regardless of the artist or the quality or the (cover) song?  Thereby destroying the inconsequential but enjoyable tradition of speculating on who'll achieve the Yuletide hot spot?

What the hell, they're entitled to their opinions.  But it's hilarious.

The Anarchists have called war on the X-Factor and all of its artists!

I draw your attention to “let’s stop x-factor from ever getting a number 1 again” a sentence that seems to apply to any time of the year and to any X Factor related artist.

I think its time all Joe/Leona/Alex/Shayne and JLS fan came together to fight against this campaign

Hey!  WTF??!!!

What about Steve Brookstein and Leon Jackson?

That's discrimination!

These people are allowed to vote. But what is even more scary, if they can tear themselves away from the TV and the computer they can also breed!

'It just makes me love him even more now. This was a battle of good v evil, and it sums up the state of the country that evil has won the day again, but there will be karma in the future. Joe needs to keep his head down, and work hard, and he'll be rewarded in the future.'

This comment made me laugh.  I'd hate to think what they'd do when faced with the taliban on the frontlines of afghanistan.

Shipping them off there would be a good idea. The population needs a cull from what I can see.

What in the name of $%&# is going on in that forum?

It seems if your posts arent insipidly sacharid and polite you get edited and and/or banned? Vitriol against ratm and the people that  bought killing is fine though.

WTF

I know forums arent free speech; they're privately held, but they seem to be going a bit incredibly way too far.

My personal favourite was some cretin (I think it was an admin; cant find it again now) saying that 'they dont understand that joes song has personal meaning to people'.

Hehehe

And people bought Killing because they just dont get what the songs about.

Makes me laugh more that they actually believe this guy who won X factor really will be world successfull, will be known through out history as the the greatest artist ever and deserves to be number 1.

Some idiot even said that Simon Cowell wasn't in it for the money (I actually replied to this statement, explaining how delusional she must be to think some one like him actually cares about people and doesn't want to earn as much money as he can, even though he lives in houses in the UK and US worth millions of pounds and has his own label.)

RATM are apparently a 'flash in the pan' too, even though they've had alot of succuess for the past 15/16 years.

I try hard to not be annoyed by people this stupid, but it really is hard not to.
