Then get a 6505+
Unless you want specifically very good clean channel, rather than merely a usable one. The crunch sound on a 5150-II is actually very decent IMHO.
That's what I mean, a better clean channel than the 6505+ (should have actually added the plus, my fault). I wouldn't get the 6505 since it's a shared EQ.
It's just, as well as all out metal, I like to play progressive metal, as well as play some lighter styles too.
As much as I like the sound of the 6505/+'s lead tone, it just doesn't tick all the boxes. It'd be like buying a guitar that had great woods, great pickups, a great sound...but the neck played like a £50 Cash Generator guitar lol. I just want to know if there's anything else out there in that price range, that is capable of portraying the Peavey's lead tone (obviously it's not going to be exact), but provide some really good tones for other genres of music. Preferably one with 6L6 and 12AX7 tubes.
