Yep it does, pends on your definition of metal I guess.
I personally think too many people use way too much gain thinking 'thats METAL!!!!!!!!!'.
I know what you are saying but it was just a suggestion. It seems a great deal and is touted as a cheap Tubescreamer orig.
For my money, if ya want that ott no Gain no Metal then the new 'Bloody Mary' is a better bet. However, ALL of this relies on what amp is used.
Horses for courses but the B.Monkey I tried made excellent overdrive metal tones with my Custom Warpigged Explorer.
With the amps talked about (in other thread) I think he wants a def. good gain channel and is pondering wether the ones he is looking at can get it. A pedal in front of a dirty (not clean) channel (ala Mr.Wylde) could indeed illicit the required results.
We can only suggest tools, the user has to make em work  :P

Was what I was thinking as so many people where complaining that the MXR wylde pedal wasn't extreme enough.

Damn plug a Rat, mxr blue box or standard muff into the dirty channel and use it to create mayhem.

Into a clean amp you could look at any pedal based on hex inverters as they filth the signal up big time.

Do you reckon a Boss Metal Zone or a Digitech Metal Master put in front of a 'Nu Metal' or 'US High Gain' distortion amp model on a Vox Valvetronix amp would get good enough gain  :)  :?:

would'nt know, hav'nt tried one.
Have you tried a Bad Monkey?

Hav'nt tried a Vox valetronix. Have a Roland Microcube (useful for it's battery power) in Texas but thats all have had to do with modelling amps. Although the Boss GT8 kicked ass on all settings through that.
Have however played a Bad Monkey through a Fender and a valve Marshall.

The Nu Metal and US High Gain amps arent really amps they just refer to tone that could be created by an actual amp.

I would say Nu Metal would probably be a Peavy, but as for the US High gain I have no idea.

Anyway how did the bad monkey sound through the vox and marshall?

basically like a orig. tube screamer. And yes, an orig. was a/b'd at same time.
Of course the 'highly sought after' orig. was better, but price for price it was kinda irrelevant.
It can/did overdrive nicely on all channels and although was not 'marketed' as a dirty channel gain monster, it does a nice tube screamer job, and as we all know many Metal artists did/do use tube screamers.
I brought it up as a price thing.
Distortion pedals are a HUGE market and it seem's every company sell's 'the best'.
However, if price is a concern, which it often is, then a Bad monkey is not bad at all.
Sure, T-Rex,Z-vex et all make classier pedals but young Joe is not really in a position to pay beacoup for a pedal right now.

I personally prefer my gain to come from my amp (although I do own a HBE Power Screamer) but there are 'hidden gems' out there they do not have 'blood, skulls, spikes' painted on em (enticing the Metal crowdsters) that do a darn good job.

Metal zone (or summit like) is in the GT8.
Its not my cup of tea and hav'nt played it for a looooooooooooooooong time.
Metal master?, sorry, even the name puts me off.
So, to answer your question, no, not really. Would be more inclined to buy a Boss sd-1 myself.

If I am reading ya right ya might like one of these;
http://www.line6.com/tonecore/uberMetal.html

which can now be bought as a module too.

I did play one in a guitar centrer once, and it was a rather insane thing. In fact cannot help but hear em in a guitar center as every lil bendy person seems to be cranking em to deth.

LoL

I think you did read me right Dakine!!

I am into Metallica, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Black Label Society, a bit of Anthrax   , a bit of dragonforce, Vai, Satriani, Malmsteen etc

Not to heavy stuff. Nothing insane like Mayhem, Cradle of Filth, Nine Inch Nails, Arch Enemy etc

I am guessing your into older metal stuff.

From your picture (which looks like the Death on the Road by Iron Maiden Cover) I would say you like Maiden, a bit of Metallica?, Megadeth etc maybe? Original 70s and 80s thrash maybe?

Would I be reading you right?

NOT being cheeky but think you are showing ya age (if not in that thread).
The pick/avatar is Judas Priest Painkiller, ala my latest BKP's.

I indeed like most of the mentioned bands along with softer stuff like 'Anouk' and newer like 'Stone Sour' 'Disturbed' 'Tool' 'Mudvayne'.

BTW, if ya don't call Pantera heavy ya need ya ears checked

This was a thread by Joe on Metal Muff. What exactly are you looking to create soundwise?

Thing is this, to my knowledge, very few if any of the bands you mention use the kind of pedals you have mentioned. Yes, they have $$$ valve setups (cept Darrell of course) but still.

Are you looking to make a vox valvetronix go INSANE?

Judging by the bands he mentioned i would say Line 6 Uber Metal, also i saw you mentioned Anthrax, so why no Scott Ian's sig. pedal?

Try it out, it's the only way you will know.

I know that Sambo had one of those Uber Distortions before he bought the pod xt, so he should be able to shed more info.

Theres 100s of little boxes out there and everybody has a different preference. If it sounds the way you want then it's the right box for you.

Well stuff like the sound samples of The Ian Scott Signature Pedal and I would get it but I think the tonal possibilities are a bit to restricting and plus, it costs a bit more.

And yes I wouldnt mind making the Vox go insane although I would probably get a better metal amp such as a Peavy

Anywho I would be interested to know what you mean by showing my age  :)

So what pedals would you suggest then?

And BTW I cannot deny that Pantera is heavy.

These posts in my terms stemmed from me trying to recommend other pedals and then kinda questioning my own choices

And I apologise if I have slightly strayed off topic but this happens when I get into a debate.

Me + Debate = Angry People :)
