basically like a orig. tube screamer. And yes, an orig. was a/b'd at same time.
Of course the 'highly sought after' orig. was better, but price for price it was kinda irrelevant.
It can/did overdrive nicely on all channels and although was not 'marketed' as a dirty channel gain monster, it does a nice tube screamer job, and as we all know many Metal artists did/do use tube screamers.
I brought it up as a price thing.
Distortion pedals are a HUGE market and it seem's every company sell's 'the best'.
However, if price is a concern, which it often is, then a Bad monkey is not bad at all.
Sure, T-Rex,Z-vex et all make classier pedals but young Joe is not really in a position to pay beacoup for a pedal right now.
I personally prefer my gain to come from my amp (although I do own a HBE Power Screamer) but there are 'hidden gems' out there they do not have 'blood,skulls,spikes' painted on em (enticing the Metal crowdsters) that do a darn good job.
